What is success? Each of us has repeatedly asked this question. Maybe this is some one-time phenomenon or is it some kind of condition that is accompanied by a feeling of satisfaction? Does success lie in the field of professional activity or personal life? Is the formula for success consists in achieving financial well-being or obtaining prestigious status in society? You can definitely say that success doesn’t affect just one particular aspect of your life, because this is a complex phenomenon, which we will now consider.
Success is a pretty multifaceted phenomenon that covers literally all areas of your life, whether it’s family, work, financial situation, physical condition, spiritual development, or anything else. It also includes relationships with others, a sense of security, as well as a sense of satisfaction with all aspects of life. Achieving success begins with its formulation, that is, by determining what success is for you.
As life experience shows, success in most cases lies in the field of interpersonal interaction, that is, in determining what you can give people and what you want to get from them in return. This approach has repeatedly proved to be right, because wherever you are and wherever you go, you always interact in one way or another with people. In fact, the ability to succeed consists in developing the right attitude to your environment, the formation of the necessary skills, the choice of direction in life and work on your character. Unless you live on a desert island, your success to one degree or another will always depend on the quality of interaction with people around you.
The formula of success. So, since we have already found out that success is a complex concept, its formula will consist of several components, which are no less than four, and it will look like this: life attitude + necessary skills + direction picking + character formation = success . Now let’s describe these components in the same order.
Your path to success will always be easier if you choose the right attitude to life from the very beginning. You should never think or say to yourself, “I can’t”. The attitude to the surrounding reality and to the goals you set should always be considered from the point of view – “I’m sure that I will succeed”, or at least “I hope that I will succeed”. Realize that no one likes whiners, in the family, at work, in sports, anywhere. Your first step towards success is to form a positive attitude in life. Below are a few important points that will help to form the right attitude to the surrounding reality.
- Develop a positive attitude to your family, friends and colleagues. Learn to show tolerance, kindness, compassion, respect and attention. These qualities will always help you to build a good relationship in any society.
- Cultivate a desire for self-education and self-development. We live in a world that is constantly and rapidly changing. It’s extremely important to be “in the stream” all the time so that in the end you will not be on the sideline.
- Learn to be critical to yourself. Demand impossible, but show realism about your own capabilities, strengths and weaknesses. So you can understand how realistic the goal is for you and what’s your chances to achieve it.
- Look for the guilty in the mirror. In any life situation, if something happened to you, it means that you allowed it to happen. Learn to look at a situation not as if somebody offended you, but as if you allowed somebody to offend you.
- Accustom yourself to take everything easier. Perhaps, on the way to success, you will have to fall more than once and take 2, 5 or 10 attempts. Taking every defeat close to the heart, you will sink into despair very quickly.
- Master the skill of a positive attitude to any life situation. Learn to withdraw positive lessons even from a failure. Whatever happens, you must always maintain a good mood and stay in an upbeat.
Of course, the proper attitude to your environment plays a significant role both in the formation of personality and in achieving success. It allows you to achieve great results in life. But at the same time, without the necessary skills, your possibilities will always be limited, and no matter how correct or positive your attitude is towards the surrounding reality. For example, a personal trainer cannot be just an enthusiast, he must be a specialist.
Enthusiasm should always be supported by the necessary knowledge and skills, otherwise such a person will not achieve significant results in his field of activity and cannot realize his potential without the necessary training. That’s why, without a doubt, a personal trainer should be well versed in the basic concepts and nuances of his profession. Without these skills, it’s unlikely that such a person can even be called a trainer.
Remember that motivation always precedes education. A person with the right lifestyle and the necessary level of qualification will always be in demand in the industry, and will have every chance of achieving significant success in the modern competitive labor market.
The direction of movement is always formed on the basis of a specific action plan. No one goes on a hike without having an acceptable plan, how the route will be laid. However, it often happens in life that at the end of a school or university, going into adulthood, people don’t plan how they want to spend it. As a result, life turns into a continuous series of random events and spontaneous decisions that are constantly changing and don’t lead to anything. The choice of education or profession, based on the fact that everyone “does this”, as a rule, doesn’t lead a person to success, but only moves him away from it.
Modern research in the field of behavioral psychology shows that people who have a clearly formulated goal, the path to which is planned in stages, earn almost twice as much as those who have no plan or goal. In addition, these people for the most part are much happier, they have good health, and joy and prosperity reign in their family life. Needless to say, that in other areas of their lives order and peace also reigns. It is obvious that these people have already achieved success in life.
The purpose of this article is to show you on a simple example, that formulating your goals and planning your actions is a prerequisite for achieving success. The formulation of your goal helps to understand what you want from life, and in which direction you need to move. Planning, in turn, helps you anticipate potential obstacles on your path and make timely decisions on how to overcome them. Remember that the path to success will always be easier if you know in advance what you are striving for and can imagine how you need to move towards the desired goal.
In the process of moving towards the intended goal, a person can, say, climb the career ladder, but at the same time not feel successful. It would seem, is this possible? Actually, yes, and this happens quite often. The reason lies in basic things. A person who has risen to a certain position or has earned a certain amount of money can simply be spineless, and the fact of reaching certain heights can be due to a combination of circumstances, intrigues with the boss or other factors that indicate a person who has no inner core.
To achieve material wealth or to obtain other benefits, people often curry favor with their superiors, somewhere they decide to remain silent, to say nothing, to dodge, to hide some facts, to substitute a person, and so on. This is usually done by weak individuals who don’t have a strong character and clear convictions. They always follow the path of least resistance and therefore never become leaders and are never become truly successful.
In fact, if you have no character, the achievement of any results will automatically be much more complicated. In this case, neither the right position in life, nor knowledge with skills, nor the chosen path will help you. The essence of this statement is completely simple and absolutely logical. Any action that you need to take to achieve a certain result always requires certain efforts on yourself, and therefore manifestations of character in those situations when you will encounter obstacles. The lack of character makes one give up at the very first problems, sink into despair and blame the circumstances for the failure. In turn, people with a solid and strong-willed character in 99% of cases achieve success in any affair, no matter what they take up. If you don’t have a load of fear, guilt or doubt behind you, your chances for success are greatly increased.
So, in search of an answer to the question – “What is success?”, we first of all found out that these are not houses, cars, money or yachts, but a very large, collective concept, which presupposes first of all the compliance of the balance of many sides of your life. Achieving success in one area can’t and shouldn’t be realized by sacrificing another. If you’re successful at work, but chaos reigns in your family, in fact, you can no longer be called successful. On the other hand, if there’s everything fine in your family, but you can hardly pay your bills, this state of affairs cannot be called successful either. Only if the results of your activities in all areas of life (family, career, finances, character, life attitude, physical and spiritual development) become satisfactory for you, we can assume that you have succeeded.
